We continued on our projects list with Dale digging out the hooka and slipping over the side to wipe down the Palace’s hull. We used ablative bottom paint last year, so you don’t scrub it, just wipe it down to freshen its properties. I continued with the stainless, climbing into the dink to polish those hard to reach places on the far side of the deck.

By late morning, Dale was done and on his way over to give Gerry & Nicky a hand. I stayed back and studied the cruising guides to the outer islands of Venezuela and Bonaire and got on the internet to check the Safety & Security Net for problem areas. Although we have no intention of going to mainland Venezuela, we’ll still have to be very careful in the outer islands until we get to Bonaire.

We finished the day at the chalet where we consumed every morsel of Nicky’s beef burgundy she had slow cooked all day (it was delicious). I brought a Greek salad and an appetizer of cream cheese covered with pepper jelly for crackers, then stopped and picked up a couple of ice cream bars for dessert. Nicky surprised us when she told us that she had made dessert too. Since it was mostly chocolate and we all know how much Gerry loves chocolate, we decided to save the ice cream for another day.

We ended the evening early again, as we were all dog tired and Dale & I still had to run the genset when we got back to the Palace.

Tomorrow is Gerry’s birthday, so we’ve decided that we’ll search for a restaurant to celebrate. The pizza place serves chocolate cake, so maybe we’ll end up there. I’ll have to hit the books again to see if there is somewhere else we might go instead.
